Preschool Kids Fitness

Are you concerned with the current health of your preschoolers and their physical activity? Would you like to offer a competitive preschool program as a business edge? Dance, gymnastics and creative movement are offered all in one with the Kids Fitness Program.

Each fitness routine begins with a proper warm-up to increase circulation and prepare children for the exercise to come. Moving quickly using the large muscles in the lower body helps give children an aerobic workout which helps strengthen the heart while relieving stress and enhancing the immune system. Props add excitement, variety and assist in coordination and balance. Working their muscles helps strength and endurance while also helping to control weight. Sports movements helps children develop skills that will help them become more competent and confident in participating in sports. We finish off with a little cooldown and stretch and of course a little reward (sticker or stamp!) Classes run about 30 minutes each per age group.

Children should be active for at least 60 minutes each day, providing them with the health benefits below:

  3. Maintaining proper blood pressure
  4. Reducing stress and anxiety
  5. Increasing self-esteem and well-being
  6. Helping to maintain proper weight

But most of all, kids have a lot of energy and love to move and have fun! Get them up and moving to music, playing games, having fun and keeping fit at the same time.

Children’s Yoga

Lotus-Fit is proud to offer a children's yoga program at the preschool level.
Children's yoga is a natural and healthy way to exercise, relax, focus and strengthen their mind/body connection.

Children's yoga is fun!  In our classes, children are animated and free-spirited as they make noises, act out stories, and pretend to be animals.  By using nature and animal themed games, dance and song to stimulate the mind, the creative spirit and enhance health, children expand, explore, and express their unique physical, emotional, mental and spiritual gifts.  The children use their imagination and yoga postures to learn new vocabulary, develop motor and movement skills, and understand balance and relaxation through meditation and breath.  The classes run about 20 minutes for the older groups (3-5 years old), and about 10-15 minutes for the younger children (1-2 years old).

Breathing exercises improve concentration, strengthen the abdominal muscles and balance energy levels.

I'm squishing my sandwich.Postures help support immune, respiratory, circulatory and digestive systems while strengthening the core muscles.  Posture work also helps to tone the body, maintain joint mobility and flexibility, develop good posture, body awareness, coordination and balance.

Relaxation techniques bring clarity and stillness to the mind, help focus, concentration and develop self-control.

2nd Teacher Training - Children's Yoga at the Preschool Level

Lotus-Fit is proud to offer an upcoming intensive training session for children's yoga. The training will be for 6 hours on an upcoming Sunday this winter session. After that, instructors may observe classes I teach or receive additional training if required. The training program will be targeted to teaching children's yoga at the preschool level (ages 2-5), but may be adapted to older children. Over 60 poses will be reviewed and sample classes presented. A manual will be provided. The training will be presented in English.
